DIAMOND TOOLS FOR FLOOR PREP
LAVINA BUSH HAMMERS
Recommended rpm: 550-650
LAVINA bush hammer tools create a bush-hammered profile on concrete, i.e. a very rough and anti-slip surface, ideal for exterior applications, and are great for removal of thin coatings when prepping the floor for epoxy application.
- - One-step method for stripping, cleaning and profiling (CSP 3, 4 and 5) concrete surfaces in preparation for epoxy coatings and self-leveling or polymer overlays.
- - The process is cost-effective, produces very little airborne dust, and it doesn't micro fracture the surface.
- - Removal rates from 200 to 2000 sf/hr, depending on the grinder size and thickness of the coating.
These agressive concrete texturing tools can be used with LAVINA machines as well as other grinders on the market that use a QuickChange adapter plate. Each bush hammer roller is attached to our standard QuickChange trapezoid pad that easily slides in and out the tool holder plate, with no bolting required. Make sure you always use the security plates for safe operation with LAVINA grinders.
CARBIDE SCRAPERS
for removing thick glues and mastics
Recommended rpm: 550-650
The new carbide scrapers from Superabrasive quickly and easily remove thick glues, rubbery mastics and elastomeric coatings that bush hammers or metal tools can not remove effectively because they will gum up and smear. These tools won't damage the concrete underneath, and are ideal for glue removal on floors that will be polished!
- - Each scraper tool has a replaceable tungsten carbide blade, that has 4 different sides (19mm each) for extended tool life. When one side is used up, simply turn the blade and start using the next side.
-
- The scrapers tool holder is Quick Change style, and can be used with LAVINA machines and most other grinders on the market via QuickChange adapter plates. Recommended Rpms: 500-700 rpms.
-
- Offered in two styles with right and left rotation #X-HOLDER-CBL-19 (right rotation for electric machines) and #X-HOLDER-CBL-19-L (left rotation for propane machines).
-
- You can replace the carbide blade only - part #CBL-19.
-
- The scrapers feature a unique impact-resistant spring system, that protects the tools from damages.
-
- Typically, the next step after using the scrapers and removing the glue, would be 30 or 50 grit metals.
PCD Tools for Coating Removal
Recommended rpm: 550-650
Superabrasive's PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) tools are designed for aggressive stock and coating removal and are offered with the same QuickChange attachment as the standard metal bond QC tools. Please note that the PCD tools are directional specific and you should check the direction of rotation of the grinder heads. All Lavina machines WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PROPANE MODELS require standard right-hand rotation tools. LAVINA propane grinders require PCD tools with LEFT-hand rotation - those can be easily distinguished by their blue color.
-
PCD tools WITHOUT Sacrificial bars or Metal Bond Button are the most aggressive style and will leave a very coarse profile on the concrete underneath. These are suitable for removal of:
-
- Thick mastics and glues
-
- ¼" Thick Parking Deck Membranes
-
- 30 mils and up Epoxy Coatings
-
- Thick Elastomeric Membranes
-
- Any coating with silica sand broadcast mixed in
-
PCD tools WITH Sacrificial bars or Metal Bond Button are designed to remove coating over a surface equal to a troweled surface and will not damage the concrete. The sacrificial bars or the metal button act as a stabilizer and depth guide, and reduce the gauging of the floor caused by the aggressive pcd segments. These tools are suitable for removal of:
-
- Medium to thin mastics or glues
-
- Failing epoxy coatings (30 mils or less)
